Pilot Position with the 193rd Special Operations Squadron
The 193rd Special Operations Squadron (SOS), a distinguished unit within the U.S. Air Force, is seeking highly qualified and motivated individuals for pilot positions flying the MC-130J Commando II. As a member of the 193rd SOS, you will be part of a premier special operations flying unit, executing critical missions worldwide.
The Airframe: MC-130J Commando II
The MC-130J Commando II is the Special Operations Forces' premier mobility platform. It is a multi-mission aircraft primarily designed for clandestine, or low visibility, single or multi-ship infiltration, exfiltration, and resupply of special operations forces in hostile or denied territory. Its secondary mission includes the air-to-air refueling of special operations helicopters and tiltrotor aircraft.
Pilot Selection Board Application Process
The 193rd Special Operations Squadron holds periodic Undergraduate Pilot Training (UPT) / Pilot Selection Boards.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be 32.5 years of age or younger at the time of the board.
  • Possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (or be in your senior year).
  • Be in excellent health with no history of DUIs/DWIs or substance abuse.
  • Have no more than 8 years of total federal commissioned service.
Competitive applicants will possess:
  • An FAA Private Pilot Certificate.
  • High AFOQT, TBAS, and PCSM scores.
  • Ties to Pennsylvania or the northeastern U.S.
  • A strong knowledge of the 193rd Special Operations Wing's mission.

An invitation-only "Meet and Greet" event will be offered to qualified applicants who have submitted a full application prior to the board.
